This is the heaviest tire I've hauled out yet. I removed it from the river a month ago and left it on the bank, as I didn't feel strong enough to roll it up the slope through the bushes by myself.

So I went back today with a sharp hacksaw, to see if I could cut it up and carry it up in pieces. But the rubber was too hard, and the rims re-inforced with steel mesh.

So I grunted it up by hand. It fell over twice, and I was drenched in sweat, but I managed to make it up to the walkway. It was a short roll to the tire pile from there.

I met a former colleague on the trail who was kind enough to take my picture.

Tractor tire
This huge tractor tire sits on the river bank, easily visible from the walking trail bridge. It'll take a tractor to remove him.

Its sister lies just behind him. She's tangled in the roots of a meadow maple.
Meeting of many rivers
The waters of the Saint John and Nashwaak rivers mingle off Riverside Drive.
