I spied this tire as a passenger in a car heading north on the Princess Margaret Bridge, and it caught my eye, resting on the shoreline 200 feet below. I glimpsed it for the briefest second, yet it burned a hole in my retina, and I knew I had to get into my canoe, paddle downriver, and pick it up.

I then saw the second tire a few feet away up the bank. All I had to do was bend down, lift it, shake it once to loosen the silt, and into my boat.

Here is proof that these tires have been carefully disposed of. They now sit on the tire pile at the local tire retail shop, awaiting transport to the tire recycling factory in Minto, New Brunswick.
